BACK-TO-SCHOOL PRAYERS: LET'S SURROUND OUR KIDS!

August 13, 2025

What a joy it was to see so many of our children come forward last Sunday as we prayed over them for the new school year! There's something powerful about watching our church family gather around these precious ones, laying hands on them, and lifting them up to our Father who loves them even more than we do.

As our kids head into their first full week of school, they're carrying those prayers with them into classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, and lunchrooms. Some are excited, others nervous, many are both! They're facing new teachers, new challenges, new friendships, and new opportunities to shine Christ's light in their schools. Here are some ways to continue to pray for kids this week:

Pray for Gospel Identity in a World of Comparison "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." (1 Peter 2:9) Ask God to help our children remember their true identity as His beloved sons and daughters when classmates try to define them by performance, appearance, or popularity. Pray that they would find their worth not in grades or social status, but in being chosen and loved by the Creator of the universe.

Pray for Wisdom Beyond Their Years "If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you." (James 1:5) Our kids face decisions daily that can shape their character - who to sit with at lunch, how to respond to unkindness, whether to join in gossip or stand up for someone being bullied. Pray that God would give them supernatural wisdom to make choices that honor Him, even when it's hard or makes them different from their peers.

Pray for Hearts That See Others as God Sees Them "Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it." (Proverbs 4:23) School can harden young hearts quickly - cliques form, judgment happens, and comparison steals joy. Pray that our children would have soft hearts toward classmates who are different, struggling, or lonely. Ask God to help them see past surfaces to hearts that need Jesus, and to be His hands and feet in their schools.

Pray for Parents to Lead with Gospel Grace "Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord." (Ephesians 6:4) The pressure on parents during the school year is intense - homework battles, social drama, academic stress. Pray that our parents would lead their families with the same grace they've received from God, creating homes where kids can process their days honestly and find refuge in Christ's love, not just performance-based approval.

And if you've been thinking about serving in our kids' ministry, this Sunday's volunteer meeting would be a perfect time to explore how God might use you in the lives of these amazing young people. We need adults who will invest in the next generation, and there's no greater privilege than helping shape young hearts for Jesus.

Thanks for being a part of what God is doing at BBCC

JOIN US IN PRAYER FOR VBS - GOD'S KINGDOM WORK IN YOUNG HEARTS

July 23, 2025

I can’t believe it but TOMORROW NIGHT our VBS program launches. We have over 120 kids and volunteers signed up, our lobby, sanctuary and classrooms have been transformed into space that will capture imaginations, and we have an amazing program to present the Gospel and God’s love to Kids.

I do want to thank our amazing Director Alex and her team – there’ve been dozens of amazing helpers working over the last few days.

I wanted to invite you into something beautiful that God is already doing behind the scenes - the work of prayer that prepares hearts, both young and old, for what He has planned.

VBS isn't just a summer program for our kids. It's a few days  where the gospel gets proclaimed to tender hearts, where children who may never step foot in our sanctuary will hear about Jesus, and where God often does His quiet, transformative work in ways that echo into eternity. This is kingdom work, and kingdom work requires kingdom prayer.

I'm asking each of you to join me in praying specifically for several things in the coming days.

Pray for our man volunteers - that God would give them energy, patience, and genuine love for each child they encounter. Many of our team members are stepping outside their comfort zones to serve, and they need the Spirit's strength and joy to sustain them.

Pray for the children who will walk through our doors. Some come from homes where Jesus is already known and loved. Others may be hearing His name for the very first time. Pray that God would prepare their hearts to receive His truth, that the seeds planted during VBS would find good soil and bear fruit that lasts.

Pray also for the parents and families connected to these children. VBS often opens doors for gospel conversations that extend far beyond our church walls. Ask God to use this week as a bridge to reach entire families with His grace.

Finally, pray for protection over the entire time - for safety, for unity among our volunteers, and for the enemy's schemes to be thwarted as we proclaim Christ to the next generation.

Your prayers matter more than you know. The God who moves mountains delights to move in the hearts of children, and He invites us to partner with Him through prayer.

"PURE RELIGION" - SERVING OUR NEIGHBORS THIS SUNDAY

July 2, 2025

James writes with striking clarity: "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress" (James 1:27). This Sunday, we have a beautiful opportunity to live out this calling together.

I want to take a moment to celebrate Sharon's faithful leadership of our Partners Team. Sharon leads a team of you to support our partners to ensure that love isn't just something we talk about on Sundays - it's something we demonstrate with our hands and resources.

Martha shared an encouraging report about our upcoming collection this coming Sunday. The first Sunda of the month is our opportunity to participate in two vital ministries by bringing supplies::

Bags of Hope - We assemble care packages for our homeless neighbors, filled with essential items many of us use without thinking: soap, toothpaste, shampoo, and socks. Each bag also includes a booklet sharing the hope found in Christ. These aren't just bags of supplies; they're tangible expressions of dignity and love. Please bring travel-sized, unopened items like toiletries, razors, and tissues.

Stop Hunger Project - Through our partnership with CROS Ministries, the food you bring feeds families throughout our community. Your donations of non-perishable items go directly to local food pantries, meeting immediate needs in Jesus' name.

The early church in Acts shared everything they had, and "there were no needy persons among them" (Acts 4:34). While our context is different, our calling remains the same - to bear one another's burdens and to remember that when we serve "the least of these," we serve Christ himself (Matthew 25:40).

This Sunday, bring what you can. Whether it's a few cans of food, some travel shampoo, or a package of socks, your contribution matters. Together, we're the hands and feet of Jesus in Boynton Beach.

Thank you for your generous hearts,

Pastor Sam

P.S. If you'd like to learn more about these ministries or have questions about what to bring, please contact our church office. Let's fill our lobby with hope this Sunday!

Your children don't need a perfect father. They need a present one who points them to the Perfect Father. Every time you fail, you get to demonstrate the gospel: confession, forgiveness, and grace in action. That's not plan B. That's the plan.
